In late October of 2016 Jake and I weren’t even thinking about buying a home! We planned to start looking in summer of 2017. But for around 2 years we looked on zillow for the kind of home we wanted. We knew we wanted an older home with character that was in the eastern part of Pgh. We set a budget and knew what we could afford. Randomly one day Jake was on Zillow and seen this house a few blocks from his parents that was priced 30,000 below our lowest end of our budget. It was everything we wanted it just needed a bit of TLC! We crunched the numbers to see what we could do and out of the blue just set up a walk through. We didn’t look at any other houses and knew this was the one! I guess after spending 2 years on zillow you kinda know what you want!
Right before Thanksgiving 2016 we found out our counter offer was accepted and we were buying a home! It all happened so fast I couldn’t believe it! We are so thankful for all the help our family has done as well as thankful for all of those who helped us with work. There is no way we would of made this home as cozy and unique as we did without the help from loved ones and friends! We love having friends and family over in our house because this house was redesigned with so much love and support! We walk into this house every day and say “this is our home”. I pray this feeling of happiness never goes away. There are so many good vibes in this home Its so hard to think we might not be here forever!
We closed on the home in early January and started work immediately. We are so happy that we got to get all the big projects done and out of the way earlier in the home owning process. The whole 1st floor was redone as well as the bathroom! We plan on getting the bedroom done in 2018. And as time goes along we will redo our guest room and office!
Huge shout out to Mark and Rita for all the help! As well as Marks connects Red and Rick for all the labor work they did! Jake and I are not super handy and this house looks the way it does because of them! Rege was our main man with the painting! Thanks for all your help! We also want to thank My Mom, Dad, Sister, Jess, Trent, Blake, Jill, Sam, Nick, Tyler and Gus for all the work inside the house! Everything from ripping up carpet (Jess and I did almost all of it!) to moving boxes and painting!
We love our home so much!I rediscovered my love for interior design and decorating this year! All those years of pinning really came through haha! Cant wait to see what the next few years has in store for us!
